Why Lectern

What you sign up for

Four things that shape every day here. Read them carefully - if any feel wrong, we’re probably not the right fit.

Calm cadence

We plan in terms, not sprints. Long projects, considered ships, sane hours.

Close to schools

Every team member talks to schools every month. The work stays grounded.

Built to last

We’re building a product schools will run for decades. The codebase plans to age well.

Small, on purpose

We add people when it’s clearly needed. Never a team that doesn’t know each other.

How we hire

Four steps, two weeks

We take longer than most because we’re hiring carefully. The whole process aims to fit inside ten working days.

01

Send your application

Email hiring@lectern.school with a CV and a paragraph about a school that shaped you. We read everything within a school day.

02

Get to know each other

A 45-minute call with two of us. We talk about Lectern, you talk about your work. No trick questions.

03

A short practical

A 4-6 hour exercise based on a real Lectern problem. Paid at your day rate. We review it together.

04

Final conversation

Meet the rest of the team, talk specifics. References from us and to us. Offer in writing within 48 hours.

Always meeting people

Tell us what you’d build here

We’re not advertising specific roles right now - but we’re always meeting people who care about schools. If you’ve worked in one, built for one, or just think deeply about how they run, write to us.
